Union Station

As designer, I was responsible for preparing sketches, elevations, location plans, construction documents, sign schedules & standards manuals for wayfinding programs. Wow, that’s a mouthful. A strong attention to detail and some serious Illustrator and Photoshop skills were cultivated during this time.
Kansas City Union Station

Originally opened in 1914, the station reached a peak annual traffic of travelers just after World War II. The station gradually fell in decline and was closed in 1985. In the early 2000’s, the station underwent a $250 million renovation.

Today, the station is home to a series of museums and other public attractions. In 2002, Union Station saw its return as a train station when Amtrak began providing public transportation services and has since become Missouri’s second-busiest train station. The refurbished station boasts theaters, ongoing museum exhibits, and attractions such as the Science City at Union Station, the Irish Museum and Cultural Center, and the Todd Bolender Center for Dance and Creativity.
